Film festival against racism and xenophobia “Open your Eyes” takes place in Saint-Petersburg for the fourth time already and is associated with March 21st – International Day of struggle for abolition of all forms of racial discrimination, announced by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1966. On this day in the city of Sharpeville (South Africa) in 1960 police opened fire on participants of protest demonstration against racist laws of the apartheid regime. 69 demonstrators were killed.

We, the Union of Socialist Youth of Georgia and the Russian Social Democratic Union of Youth, make a statement about our common principal position.
We believe that modern world should be based on human values. Violent and bloody resolution of conflicts is absolutely unacceptable. Confrontations should be resolved only through negotiations.

Seminar on the projects of both organisations dealing with solving the problem of xenophobia in society. Representing SDUY SPb Anna Khaldina made a report on the realisation of the project on non- formal education for school children; representing JUSOS Anna Markgraf presented the project on tolerance that JUSOS is carrying out.
